Performs duties to protect life and property. Maintains law and order and responds to emergency calls. May patrol the City enforcing the criminal and traffic laws of the City, State and Nation. Performs investigations, or performs training duties. (STIPEND: LEVEL I $2000 & LEVEL III $1000)

 Major Duties:
Reserve Officers are utilized to supplement the law enforcement manpower of the Berverly Hills Police Department. They volunteer their time to fulfill many of the roles handled by full-time police officers. Like their full-time counterparts, Reserve Officers are professionally trained and are duly sworn law enforcement personnel. They receive the same level of training and, as such, are required by law to meet the same hiring, background, medical and psychological standards as full-time officers. Reserve Officers are required to work a minimum of 20 hours per month on a voluntary basis. Reserve Officers are issued a badge, an identification card, uniforms, and must be in good physical condition.

 Required Qualifications:
A.A. degree or completion of at least 45 college units at the time of testing and the commitment to complete an A.A. degree or 60 units during the probationary period. The A.A. Degree or 60 units must be met before permanent status may be attained. THe probationary period will not be extended to provide additional time to meet this qualification. At the first step of the background investigation and prior to the release of the background investigation packet, you will be required to submit proof that you meet the minimum education requirement in the form of an A.A./B.A./B.S. diploma, transcript, letter from the registrar or other document approved by the Human Resources Department. The Selection Procedure wil consist of three (3) Parts: Part 1: Applications will be screened and reviewed for the qualifications listed on this bulletin. Only fully completed applications will be accepted - no exceptions. Those candidates meeting the qualifications listed will be invited to participate in a written examination which will be scored on a pass/fail basis. The written examination will be waived for applicants who have successfully completed a California POST approved Basic Law Enforcement Academy within the past two years. A Certificate of Completion from a POST approved Basic Law Enforcement Academy must be submitted with a City of Beverly Hills application. Part II: Those candidates successful through Part 1 Will be invited to an oral interview which will evaluate education, training and experience -minimum passing score: 70% - weighted: 100% Part III: Candidates successul through Part II will be placed on an eligibility list and may be invited for the captain's oral interview. weighted: 100% Part IV: Candidates successul through Part III will be notified as positions become available, and will proceed to a screening process which will consist of the following: (1) police records check (2) DMV driving record review (3) personal history statement (4) polygraph examination (5) thorough nackground investigation (6) medical and psychological examinations and (7) physical agility test.
