Job Title: Pollution Control Maintenance Manager

The purpose of this job is to direct, coordinate and supervise the maintenance of mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment in the Division of Wastewater Treatment & Collections. Duties include, but are not limited to: supervising staff; directing activities; coordinating the repair and maintenance of building facilities and grounds; evaluating equipment; monitoring purchases; preparing reports; and processing associated paperwork.

 Examples Of Essential Duties:
This employee supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff, handling employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining and completing employee performance appraisals;

Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the overall maintenance of the plant by performing duties such as assigning work activities, monitoring work activities and acting on employee problems;

Supervises the activities of maintenance personnel, overseeing and engineering special projects;

Evaluates functioning of equipment to make improvements of plant operations;

Conducts training classes for departmental personnel;

Prepares various types of documents such as memos, annual budget and incident reports;

Communicates effectively both orally and written with department personnel and outside officials;

Serves as liaison between maintenance division and operations, engineering, contractors and other agencies;

Monitors purchases to ensure the cost-effectiveness of various items;

Monitors and evaluates the performance of maintenance personnel to ensure efficiency and compliance to procedures; and performs related duties as required.

 Typical Qualifications:
Applicants for this position must have graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Business/Public Administration, Engineering or related field; and have five (5) years of progressively responsible management experience in the maintenance of a plant facility; OR any equivalent combination of training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Supervisory experience required.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Applicants for this position must possess a Valid driver's license at the time of application. A valid Georgia driver's license must be presented for verification at the time of appointment.

Knowledge of Job: Must have a thorough knowledge of management, electrical and engineering practices, policies and procedures as necessary in the completion of daily responsibilities. Is able to develop and administer policies, procedures, plans and activities and to monitor performance of subordinates against measured established goals. Knows how to develop and administer operations and staff plans and objectives for the expedience and effectiveness of specific duties. Has thorough knowledge of applicable policies, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the job. Ability to keep abreast of any changes in policy, methods, operations, budgetary and equipment needs, etc. as they pertain to departmental and engineering operations and activities. Is able to effectively communicate and interact with subordinates, management, employees, and members of the general public. Is able to assemble information and make written reports and documents in a concise, clear and effective manner. Has good organizational, management, human relations, and technical skills. Is able to use independent judgment and discretion in managing subordinates including the handling of emergency situations, determining and deciding upon procedures to be implemented, setting priorities, maintaining standards, and resolving problems. Has the ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, procedures, and related information. Is knowledgeable and skilled in the use of computers. Is able to read, understand and interpret reports and related materials.
