|
Therapist III will provide assessment, crisis intervention, and psychiatric stabilization to citizens of Alexandria, department staff and city agencies as well as to citizens of other jurisdictions who are within Alexandria city limits at the time of crisis. This worker must be available to work varying shifts. Shifts will normally occur on evenings, weekends and some holidays.
Respond to psychiatric emergencies within the City through telephone or face-to-face contact. Interview and evaluate clients presenting in crisis, consult with other care providers, arrange for hospitalization or less restrictive alternatives. Liaison with other community agencies. Makes appropriate referrals as required. Conducts crisis intervention; pre-admission screening; short-term individual counseling; identifies community resources; and maintains clear and concise patient records. |

Minimum & Additional Requirements:
|
One year of post-graduate work experience in providing direct clinical services to consumers having substance abuse, psychiatric, and emotional disorders; and licensure or license eligible as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSAP) in the Commonwealth of Virginia at the time of appointment; if license eligible, the employee must obtain Virginia licensure at the first available opportunity, but no later than one year after appointment.
Employees must possess a valid driver’s license issued by their state of residence. |

Preferred Qualifications:
|
| Possession of Virginia clinical license as LPC, LCSW, LSATP or Clinical Psychologist. More than two (2) years of work experience in clinical assessment, crisis intervention, diagnosis and case management; skills in working with trauma victims and in the provision of critical incident stress management; and fluent bilingual (English and Spanish, French, African, or Middle Eastern language) skills. |
