THE POSITION(S): Under direction, the Physician II provides specialized professional medical services as required in a County facility and assists in the administrative and professional direction of a medical specialty; and does related work as required.

THE REQUIREMENTS: These are entrance requirements to apply for the position. Possession of the entrance requirements does not assure employment with Alameda County.
LICENSE: Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in California.
AND
EXPERIENCE: Completion of an approved residency in an appropriate medical specialty. |

| The examination may include but may not be limited to: KNOWLEDGE OF research and survey techniques or statistical methods; modern principles, practices, and trends in the appropriate specialty; Hospital and/or clinic organization, procedures, and routine; Effective management practices in a medical setting. ABILITIES: Analyze and interpret data; Instruct technical and professional personnel; Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate a clinical service or bureau; Assist in the development and presentation of educational programs for intern, resident and ancillary staff; Write and speak effectively. |

Examination Components:

THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF the following two steps: A review of candidates' applications to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process, a review of candidates’ Supplemental Questionnaires to verify further knowledge, skill or ability. The final step is an oral interview which will be weighted as 100% of the candidate's final examination score. The oral interview may contain situational exercises. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES TO ANNOUNCED EXAMINATION STEPS.
THE EXAMINATION: THIS IS A NEW CONTINUOUS EXAMINATION. The eligible list resulting from this examination will cancel any existing list and may last approximately one year but can be extended. This examination may be reopened as necessary and the names of additional candidates merged onto the existing list according to examination score.
