Job Title: PHYSICIAN III (PSYCHIATRIC OPTION) SERVICES AS NEEDED

Under direction, to provide professional medical services in a designated medical specialty in a county hospital or special program and to do related work as required. Physician III may function as a journey-level professional in a specialty service, reporting to a higher level physician or administrator with overall program responsibility. Positions in this class are distinguished from those in the class of Physician II by the fact that the Physician III works independently in a highly specialized area of service (i.e., anesthesiology, pathology, pediatrics), whereas a Physician II functions in a more general areas with supervision.

 Minimum Qualifications:
THE REQUIREMENTS: These are entrance requirements to apply for the position. Possession of the entrance requirements does not assure employment with Alameda County.

LICENSE: Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in California.

AND
EXPERIENCE: Completion of an approved residency in an appropriate medical specialty.

 Examination Components:
THE EXAMINATION: THIS IS A NEW CONTINUOUS EXAMINATION. The eligible list resulting from this examination will cancel any existing list and may last approximately one year but can be extended. This examination may be reopened as necessary and the names of additional candidates merged onto the existing list according to examination score.

APPLICATION PROCESS: The application process consists of a review of candidates’ applications and Supplemental Questionnaires to verify possession of minimum qualifications. The applications and Supplemental Questionnaires of those candidates who possess the minimum qualifications for the class will be placed on the eligible list based on an evaluation of education, training, and experience.
